Custom Handlebar Risers

To utilize the advantages of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, Cycling Canada worked alongside MSAM to create custom riser blocks printed in AlSi10Mg. The part was redesigned to consolidate multiple building block components into a lighter, aerodynamically smoother riser for improved athlete performance.

As each athlete has a different requirement, their unique assembly stack was reverse engineered using structured light. Conduction mode melting was then used to print the parts, which was then followed by machining the mounting interface.

Extensive testing showed significant improvement with new rider positions. Parts were polished after printing and then painted by Cycling Canada before being used to compete at the Olympics in Tokyo and other international events.
