This R&D program reviews the challenges in current AM systems such as low speed, high cost and reliability issues and improves them through a suite of next generation of AM processes and systems. Our focus is to put Canada at the forefront by developing innovative, next-generation AM platforms which address these limitations and effectively facilitate the worldwide adoption of AM.
MSAM researchers have developed two novel AM platforms:
- A mechatronics based AM system that integrates powder-bed and material extrusion concepts together, and
- a novel material jetting system for printing high viscosity inks.
